Facility Layout & Equipment Integration

Planning the layout and equipment integration is one of the first steps in any food facility project. The design team (whether it is our in-house designer or your own), general contractor, and processing equipment vendors must meet and collaborate before making any critical decisions.

Analyzing packaging methods, equipment footprint, access, logistics, and ingredients or raw materials flow are crucial considerations in the planning stage.

How We Collaborate on a Project

For any construction or renovation project, we will be the General Contractor (GC) and single point of contact for you on the project.

As GC, we rely on trusted subcontractors we’ve worked with for years. Subcontracted work can include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and drywall.

What if I have my own subcontractors? No problem! We often collaborate with outside subs on projects – you don’t have to use ours.

Phases of Construction

The construction process typically involves several phases, including:

  • Site preparation
  • Foundation construction
  • Framing
  • Mechanical and electrical installation
  • Interior finishing
  • Exterior landscaping

The construction timeline may vary depending on the size and complexity of the building and the availability of materials and labor.

Once the building is completed, it must undergo a series of inspections and certifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards. These inspections may include fire safety, electrical safety, and environmental health inspections.

Pre-Engineered Construction Is a Popular Choice for Food Processing Facilities

Pre-engineered construction is a streamlined, time-saving building solution. With this process, your steel building components are manufactured in a factory and shipped to your site. All components arrive ready for assembly so construction can begin right away.
