Community Center Construction

About the Client

Central Schwenkfelder Church in Lansdale, PA (Montgomery County) was looking to expand its church ministry. The congregation wanted to build a community center and approached ACi to accomplish this goal. The church’s project leaders had heard about our work from a church member. We had completed a construction project at a nearby food company in Hatfield, PA, and the church member recommended us for the church’s project. After our initial consultation, we both agreed to move forward with a design for the building.

Project Details

Project Type: Design/Build Construction

The client provided a basic sketch of the building and clear goals for its intended uses, which were helpful information to get us started. The plan was for the new community center to be built on the church’s property, adjacent to the main church building and sanctuary.

The goal was to create a community center to accommodate sports ministries, private family gatherings, speaking engagements, local clubs (e.g., book clubs, support groups), and exercise classes.

The plans for the multi-purpose building included a state-of-the-art gymnasium, an assembly area, a kitchenette with a café, and two multi-purpose rooms. An outdoor picnic pavilion and two sports fields for soccer and softball were also included.

Project Specs & Duration

Building Material: Pre-engineered steel
Square Footage: 16,600
Project Duration: 12 months from design through completed construction
Additional Roofing Project: The church also contracted ACi to replace the roof on their main building with a new metal roofing system.

How We Work With Clients

For any construction or renovation project, we will be the General Contractor (GC) for the project. As the GC, we rely on trusted sub-contractors we’ve worked with for years. Subcontracted work can include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and drywall.

However, you, as the client, can bring in your contractors. For this project, the Central Schwenkfelder Church brought in a couple of their subcontractors.
